The Winfield Fire Protection District is responsible for protecting and preserving the lives and property of the citizens of Winfield, and surrounding unincorporated Dupage County, from fire and to assist them in emergency situations. We offer classes, programs, and safety tips to educate the public, and keep our residents safe.

Testing for Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic Eligibility Roster

Beginning February 18, 2019, the Winfield Fire Protection District will be accepting applications for the position of full-time firefighter/paramedic.  Applications will be available on line at www.winfieldfpd.org or at Station #31, 27W530 Highlake Road, Winfield, Illinois, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Application requirements:  

  • At least 21 years of age and not older than 35, except as provided by state law
  • Certified Firefighter II or Certified Basic Operations Firefighter
  • U.S. citizen or meet requirements of Illinois Human Rights Act for citizenship status
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Licensed EMT-P through the Illinois Department of Public Health

Applicants must pass a written test, provide a valid CPAT Certification Card and Ladder Certification issued between April 6, 2018 and April 5, 2019, and pass an oral interview to make the eligibility list.

All applications with required documentation must be postmarked or returned by Monday, March 18, 2019 by 4:00 p.m.

Part-Time Firefighter/Paramedic Employment Opportunity

The Winfield Fire Protection District Board is accepting applications for part-time firefighter/paramedics.

Application requirements:  

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Certified Firefighter II or Certified Basic Operations Firefighter
  • Licensed EMT-P through the Illinois Department of Public Health
  • U.S. citizen or meet requirements of Illinois Human Rights Act for citizenship status
  • Valid driver’s license

Current hourly rate is $19.00/hr.  Completed applications are to be returned, with copies of the required certifications/licenses, to the Winfield Fire Protection District, 27W530 Highlake Road, Winfield, IL 60190.
